Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actor who was famous for her portrayal as the fierce attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime series Soul Food. After her wedding to her husband, she was referred to for her role as Nikki Kodjoe. Her acting talent was evident from childhood. A Maryland high-school contest awarded her the top actress prize. The path to acting began when she worked in the Washington Ballet Company as well as theater. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her first major performance. It was then followed by films such as "Boogie Nights Spark", Blue Streak". The film was highly praised for her performance on Soul Food. Born to Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria up to the age of seven, Contractor was well-versed in the world and an array of different cultures from a young age. She attended boarding school from the age of 7 to 9 in London. Later her family relocated home to Toronto (Canada) which is where they were raised for her entire life. Contractor was a student and an expert in classical dancing in Toronto. She was a student at an Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school, where she not only danced but also studied theatre. At 16, after nearly 10 years of dance Contractor discovered she was looking to study acting professionally. After graduating high school, she accepted a full award to Toronto's University of Toronto, where she pursued a masters in theater and a dual major in sociology and psychology. Contractor was a student who'd spent a year in university and auditioned at an open call for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canada] and won the role. The production she appeared in earned praise from Canadian critics. The actor was invited to enroll in Stratford's conservatory program, where only eight males and four females are selected for a 20-week crash course on the classical stage that she was eager to take. The actress's spot in the next production was secured, and she won the role of Hermia.
