Midthunder is born in New Shiprock Mexico. She belongs to the Fort Peck Assiniboine Tribe. She was originally of her home in the Navajo Nation of Shiprock in New Mexico. After spending most her childhood at Santa Fe (where she went to the Academy for Technology and the Classics and where her mom worked at a casting company) She returned to her to her home. Amber is Native American on her father's family, and they are both enrolled members of the Fort Peck Sioux Tribe. Amber's mom is adoptive. Amber therefore has unidentified her ancestry. Prey features a large number of Native American actors, such as Dakota Beavers (who is Blackfeet as well as Comanche) and Jhane Meiers, who has been helping Prey since the beginning of time.
